Updates in Non-Pain Symptom Management
Are your patient care plans sounding repetitious during interdisciplinary meetings? Mrs. Jones, Mr. Drummond, and Ms. Heffelfinger all are experiencing nausea, and all are receiving Ondansetron for symptom management. Yet how can that be when all nausea is not alike? This session will facilitate enhanced skills acquisition for hospice and palliative nurses caring for individuals with serious illness. We will demonstrate best practices for the clinical management of common symptoms seen in hospice and palliative care to include constipation, nausea & vomiting, dyspnea, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and oncological emergencies. We will also examine how COVID-19 is affecting the care of our patients nearing life’s end in 2020. We will offer non-pain symptom management updates and techniques to support optimal patient and family outcomes through the use of case studies and multiple learner engagement strategies for future application into your clinical practice.
3.75 hours NCPD and 3.75 hours Category 1 Pharm Credits will be awarded for session successful completion.
